Porducare Enterprise is a social enterprise empowering rural women and youth in Northern Ghana. Through sustainable shea butter production, vocational training, and climate-smart initiatives, we create income opportunities while strengthening communities and protecting natural resources.

Our Origins

Porducare Enterprise was established in 2021 and formally registered in 2022 in Ghana. The name “Porducare” reflects our guiding principle to produce with care: care for people, care for communities, and care for the planet.
Our founder, Portia Dumba, observed that despite the abundance of shea trees in Northern Ghana and the global demand for shea butter, rural women remained trapped in poverty.
Middlemen exploited their labor, product quality limited market access, and families often
resorted to cutting trees for firewood or charcoal. Meanwhile, children in these communities
dropped out of school because parents could not afford basic supplies. Porducare was created to change this story, to provide structure, empowerment, and
sustainable opportunities for women, youth, and children.

Our Evolution

At the start, our focus was training women in sustainable shea processing. We equipped them with skills to improve hygiene, quality, and packaging standards. Soon, we expanded into value addition, producing new shea-based products like lotions, pomades, and creams. But our mission grew larger than business.

Alongside income generation, we launched:
Education Support Programs; providing uniforms, books, and supplies to children in need. Tree Planting Campaigns; over 3,000+ shea and shade trees planted and protected to fight deforestation and restore degraded land. Community Advocacy; awareness programs encouraging the preservation of shea trees and
climate resilience.

Our Impact

Since our registration, Porducare Enterprise has:

Trained and empowered 850+ women in sustainable shea production and entrepreneurship.
Provided school support to 1,500+ children with uniforms and materials.
Served over 700 customers and partnered with more than 10 local retailers.
Launched five shea-based products for the local and regional market.
Planted and protected 3,000+ trees as part of our climate restoration efforts.

Through this work, we are advancing SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8
(Decent Work & Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Our Philosophy

At Porducare, development is holistic and sustainable. We see women not only as producers
but as leaders, environmental stewards, and changemakers in their communities. Our three-fold philosophy of care for people, care for communities, and care for the environment guides every decision, from training and processing to market engagement and tree planting.

Looking Ahead

Though still young, Porducare Enterprise is ambitious. We aim to become a leading social
enterprise in Sub-Saharan Africa, known for high-quality shea products, innovative community programs, and sustainable environmental practices.
